Can an air purifier prevent or get rid of mold?

An air purifier with a true HEPA filter helps with the airborne part of the problem. It captures floating spores as air passes through, which can reduce odor and allergy symptoms and lower how many spores settle on new surfaces. What it cannot do is kill mold already growing on a wall or in a shower corner, and it does nothing to dry the damp conditions that let mold start. Use one alongside real moisture control and cleanup, never as a substitute for fixing the source.

What indoor humidity level keeps mold from growing?

Aim to keep indoor relative humidity below about 60 percent, and ideally between 30 and 50 percent. Above that range, damp surfaces and condensation give mold the moisture it needs to colonize. A cheap hygrometer lets you monitor it, and a dehumidifier helps in basements and other naturally damp spaces. Ventilate bathrooms and kitchens while you use them, run exhaust fans, and address condensation on windows and pipes. Steady humidity control does more to prevent mold than any spray or gadget.

Is mold resistant drywall worth the extra cost?

In the right rooms, yes. Mold resistant drywall replaces the paper facing that ordinary drywall feeds mold with, using a coated or fiberglass surface that gives spores far less to eat. In a bathroom, basement, or laundry room, that upgrade often prevents the tear-out you would otherwise face in a couple of years, which easily justifies the higher price per sheet. Just remember it is not waterproof. Shower stalls, tub surrounds, and other directly wet areas still need cement board or a tile backer instead.
